that does not apply to a complex 26 year old sports car. The idea that low mileage means a better, more reliable car does not apply after 26 years of age. The 120k service still has to be performed, the injectors still have to be replaced, the suspension will still need work, the driveshaft center bearing carrier will be ripped (or will very soon), the subframe and tension rod bushings will be oozing, and you WILL spend money on all the upgrade goodies either during or after said maintenance. This is likely why you have decided it makes sense to buy a Z with all the work already done for only thousands more. In the end, I think it is up to you to accept how much you would deem fair value for what you are purchasing; it won't be more than if you started from scratch anyway. The only thing that scares me is if the previous owner screwed up something like a timing belt tensioner....another factor that goes into why modified Z's will never sell for as much as what went into them.
